Insurance plans we accept

We accept most major insurance plans at both our Livonia and Brighton offices. Because allergy and immunology care covers services like office visits, allergy testing, and immunotherapy, benefits can vary significantly between plans. We recommend contacting your insurance provider before your first visit to confirm your coverage.

Know before you go

What to check with your insurance before your visit

Taking a few minutes to review your benefits before your appointment can help you avoid unexpected costs and make the financial side of your care much easier to manage. When you call your insurance provider, here are the most important things to ask about:

  • Whether your plan requires a referral from your primary care provider before seeing an allergy and immunology specialist.
  • What your current deductible is for the plan year and how much of it has already been met.
  • What your copay or coinsurance amount is for specialist office visits.
  • Whether allergy testing is a covered service under your plan and at what cost-sharing level.
  • Whether allergy immunotherapy including allergy shots or sublingual immunotherapy requires prior authorization before starting.
  • Whether diagnostic services such as pulmonary function testing or patch testing are covered under your plan.
  • Whether your plan has an out-of-pocket maximum and where you currently stand for the year.
  • Whether services at both our Livonia and Brighton offices are covered as in-network under your plan.

If you are unsure how to read your benefits or what any of these terms mean, our front desk team is happy to help you understand what to look for when you call your insurer.

Prior authorization

When prior authorization may be required

Some insurance plans require prior authorization before certain services can be covered. This means your insurer must review and approve the service before it is performed in order for benefits to apply. At Paris Asthma & Allergy Centers, prior authorization is most commonly required for:

  • Allergy immunotherapy including allergy shots and sublingual immunotherapy.
  • Certain allergy blood testing panels.
  • Pulmonary function testing in some plans.
  • Advanced allergy treatments or biologics in applicable cases.

We will notify you once authorization has been approved before proceeding with treatment whenever possible.

Billing information

How billing works at our practice

After each visit, our billing team submits a claim to your insurance provider on your behalf. Once your insurer processes the claim, they will send an explanation of benefits — often called an EOB — detailing what was covered, what was applied to your deductible, and what portion if any remains your responsibility.

Any remaining patient balance after insurance has paid will be billed to you directly by statement. Payment is due upon receipt of your statement. If you have questions about a charge or believe there may be an error, please contact our billing team before submitting payment so we can review your account together.

We accept the following payment methods:

  • Major credit cards including Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and Discover.
  • Debit cards.
  • Cash.
  • Personal checks made payable to Paris Asthma & Allergy Centers.
  • Flexible spending account cards (FSA).
  • Health savings account cards (HSA).

For your convenience, you can securely pay your bill online through our patient payment portal. Please have your billing statement ready when you make a payment.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q1. Do I need a referral to see an allergist?

Referral requirements depend on your specific insurance plan. Many plans allow patients to see a specialist without a referral, while others require one. We recommend checking with your insurance provider before scheduling your appointment.

The plans listed on this page are the ones we commonly accept, but they may not include every insurance provider. Please contact our office and we’ll be happy to verify your coverage before your visit.

Most major insurance plans cover medically necessary allergy testing. However, coverage, deductibles, copays, and prior authorization requirements vary by plan. We recommend confirming your benefits with your insurance provider before your appointment.

Many insurance plans provide coverage for allergy immunotherapy, including allergy shots. Some plans may require prior authorization before treatment begins. Our team will assist with the authorization process whenever required.

An Explanation of Benefits (EOB) is a document sent by your insurance company after your claim has been processed. It explains what services were covered, what your insurance paid, and any remaining patient responsibility. An EOB is not a bill.

If there is a remaining balance after your insurance processes your claim, you will receive a billing statement from our office. If you have questions about a charge or believe there may be an error, please contact our billing team before making payment.

Yes. We accept both Health Savings Account (HSA) and Flexible Spending Account (FSA) cards for eligible allergy and asthma services.
